Forum Rules

The following are our forum's guidelines/rules. Please follow them.


  • Your Treadle It Membership:
    Your membership here is a privilege and not a right. As a member you agree to abide by all the rules of the TreadleIt Forums. Your membership can be temporarily suspended or revoked at any time for any reason as determined by the site Administrators. Excessive rule breaking or egregious offenses will result in a full banning.

    Religion:
    Do not post about religion.

    Politics:
    Do not post about politics.

    Sex:
    Do not post about sex.

    Divisive Topics:
    Do not post topics that push people’s buttons. Remember, not everyone shares your opinions. If in doubt forward your text to a moderator for review.

    Respect:
    No member will berate, bad mouth, criticize, depreciate, derogate, denigrate, diminish, discount, discredit, dispraise, downgrade, flame, knock, minimize, put down, rap, rip, roast, run down, scoff at, scorn, slam, smear, take down, tear down, underestimate, or write off any member or their machines.

    Disputes:
    Do not air your dirty laundry here.

    Appraisals:
    Do not ask for or give appraisals. Without seeing a machine in person, there are too many unknowns. In addition, prices vary considerably by location, condition, age, ease of pick up or delivery, and so on. Your best option is to search for available sale prices, such as completed sales on eBay or Trade Me, or PM the Forum owner. (not the Administrator)

    Avatars:
    Avatars must contain recognizable TreadleIt content. Animated avatars are not allowed. Avatars found to be offensive or non-compliant will be removed at the sole discretion of the Forum Owner. Do not re-use an avatar after it has been removed. If you find your avatar has been removed and have not been alerted to this by an Forum Owner please contact him (use the PM button below).

    Off Topic:
    Do not go off topic for the forum you are posting to.

    Bad Advice:
    In the event that you see dangerous or harmful advice given on these forums it is your responsibility to flag the post (triangular button with the exclamation (!) mark) to make a moderator or Forum Owner aware of the posting. Members who post dangerous or harmful advice will be contacted by an Administrator and told to stop. Failure to stop these postings will result in removal as a member. This removal will be without recourse.

    Compliance:
    In the event that you are unsure of compliance contact a moderator or Forum Owner. The adage, “better to ask forgiveness than permission”, doesn’t apply here.

    Treadle wood & metal working machines:
    Allowed topics include those about machines, machine repair and restoration, machine parts, machine set-up, machine maintenance, paper, machine or company history and memorabilia specifically related to Treadle machines. Additional allowed topics include discussions of tools or machines used in a specific repair and/or restoration of an treadle machines.

    Woodworking and your Projects Forum:
    The projects forum is for your use to post pictures of woodworking/metal projects you are currently working on or to ask/give advice about how to proceed with a project. It is our own little woodworking/metal forum for those who, well, actually use their treadle and other machines.

    Scroll sawing:
    This is to support all activities that are related to scroll sawing e.g. Treadle and Electrical saws, How to, material use, free patterns, your machine the good and bad, you get the drift by now, everything for the scroll saw.

    Go for it Forum:
    The Go for it (Stuff Without Treadle Related Facts) Forum is for the discussion of anything you want as long as you follow the rules, Jokes are also welcome here (see all the above).

    Jokes Forum:
    The Jokes Forum is for the sharing of funny jokes, and quips you may come across. These may be slightly not safe for work, but must follow the rules (see all above)

    Scams:
    If you feel a member might be a scammer or a Spammer flag the post (triangle with ! mark) or contact a moderator or Forum Owner with an explanation. Do not take matters into your own hands.

    What Happens When the Rules Are Violated?;
    A violation of any of the rules will cause the forum administrators and moderators to believe that you’ve not read the rules (not an excuse), don’t feel the rules apply to you (you aren’t that special to anyone but your mother or your dog) or are making a blatant attempt to challenge the rule(s) and/or the forum moderators and Forum Owner (not a good idea). The moderators and administrators of the forum reserve the right to unsubscribe you on the spot without warning or recourse. This dismissal may be temporary or permanent.

    While no one is expected to agree with all the rules laid out above, all are expected to follow them. If you have a question about a rule or would like a clarification please feel free to contact the Forum Owner. If, for any, reason you feel that you cannot follow the rules as outlined above please contact an administrator and ask to be removed as a member of the TreadleIt forum.

    By your staying here after the published date of these rules it is understood by the Forum Owner that you have agreed to abide by these rules.
